U.S. Bank Cash+ Visa Signature Card
Best for: People willing to manage quarterly 5% category picks
👍 Pros
- Carries no yearly fee
- 5% categories you set yourself
- A 0% intro APR period
👎 Cons
- Categories have to be selected every quarter
- The 5% rate stops at $2,000 per quarter
- Tacks on a 3% fee for foreign transactions
The Cash+ is the card to pick if you want to aim your own 5%: you choose two 5% categories each quarter (combined first $2,000) from a list that includes things like utilities and home utilities most cards ignore, plus a 2% everyday pick. Max the 5% cap and that's $100 back per quarter, $400 a year, but you must re-enroll every quarter or you drop to 1%, so it punishes forgetful users. There's a 3% foreign fee too. If you'd rather not manage category picks, a flat-rate or automatic-bonus card is less hassle; confirm the current 5% category list on U.S. Bank's site each quarter.
