How to activate your Wise Card

Activate your Wise Card online

  1. Log in to Wise on the web or in the app
  2. Go to the Cards tab and select the new card (swipe right if needed)
  3. Choose 'Activate your card'
  4. Enter the 6-digit code from the letter that came with the card

Activate in the Wise app

  1. Open the Wise app and go to Cards
  2. Select the new card
  3. Tap 'Activate your card'
  4. Enter the 6-digit code from the card's letter

Activate by phone

Call the activation number printed on the sticker on the front of your new card (or the customer-service number on the back) and follow the automated prompts. You will usually be asked for the card number and a piece of identity information such as the last four digits of your Social Security number or your ZIP code.

After you activate

  • Most non-US cards have no separate activation; a chip and PIN purchase does it
  • If a chip and PIN payment is declined, do a balance check or withdrawal at an ATM
  • Add the card to your mobile wallet

If your Wise (US cards issued by Community Federal Savings Bank) card won't activate

  • US card and travelling: Wise says US-issued cards can only be activated in the US, so activate before you go
  • Singapore cards: balance inquiry or chip and PIN only, no ATM withdrawals

How do I activate my Wise Card?

You can activate it in the Wise app, online at wise.com, first purchase with PIN, at an ATM with your PIN. Online or in-app activation is usually fastest: sign in, choose the new card, and confirm the details requested.

Is there a phone number to activate a Wise (US cards issued by Community Federal Savings Bank) card?

Use the activation number printed on the sticker on the front of your new card, or the number on the back of the card. Only call numbers shown on the card itself or on wise.com — scammers publish look-alike numbers.

Can I use my Wise (US cards issued by Community Federal Savings Bank) card before activating it?

Generally no. A new card is blocked until it is activated, although some issuers activate a replacement automatically the first time you use it with your PIN, and some let you use a virtual card number in the app straight away.

Does activating a Wise Card affect my credit score?

No. Activation is not a credit check. Any hard inquiry happened when you applied; activating simply switches the card on. Not activating a new account does not close it, so it can still appear on your credit report.
