The Payback Amex is the easy choice if you already collect Payback points, turning a free card into points on nearly every euro plus the partner network. Earn rates are modest, so on EUR 10,000 of annual spend you're looking at a fairly small point haul unless you concentrate at Payback partners. German Amex acceptance is the usual hurdle, so keep a Visa or Mastercard handy for shops that refuse it. If you don't care about Payback, a no-FX Visa like the GenialCard is more useful abroad.
