American Express Platinum Card

✈ Lounge Access Available ★ Premium travel credits and luxury benefits Premium & Luxury Travel Rewards

The German Amex Platinum makes sense only if you'll burn through its annual credits; otherwise the roughly EUR 720 fee (as of 2026) is dead weight. Stack the travel, dining and other statement credits plus lounge access and a frequent traveler can clear EUR 700+ in value, but a once-a-year flyer won't, and Amex's patchy acceptance in Germany means you'll often need a Visa or Mastercard as backup. If you mainly want everyday rewards, the free Payback Amex is the smarter pick. Confirm the fee and current credit lineup on americanexpress.de.
