Wells Fargo Autograph Card
Best for: Fee-free 3x across many everyday categories
👍 Pros
- Carries no yearly fee
- A broad set of 3x categories
- No surcharge on purchases made abroad
👎 Cons
- A modest 1x base rate
- Few transfer partners on its own
- Lounge entry is not included
For a no-fee card, the Autograph's 3x net is unusually wide: restaurants, travel, gas, transit, popular streaming and phone plans, all uncapped, plus no foreign fee and cell-phone protection when you pay your bill with it. The weak spot is the 1x base rate, so non-bonus spending earns little, and on its own the points aren't worth much beyond cash. The upside unlocks when you pair it with the Autograph Journey to make points transferable. Put $1,200/month across those 3x categories and that's about 43,000 points a year; Wells generally limits you to one bonus per 16 months, so confirm timing on their site.
