Chime credit cards
Neobank focused on fee-free banking and credit building. Chime Prime adds a 5%-category secured card for high direct-deposit members (announced Feb 2026).
About Chime
Chime is a financial technology company, not a bank, best known for fee-free mobile banking and for its secured credit-building card, the Chime Credit Builder Secured Visa, now branded Chime Card. The card is issued by The Bancorp Bank, N.A. or Stride Bank, N.A. and has no annual fee, no interest, no minimum security deposit and no credit check to apply. The Chime Prime Card, announced in February 2026, adds 5% cash back categories for members with $3,000 or more in monthly qualifying direct deposits.
Chime suits you if you have no credit or damaged credit and want to build a payment history without a hard pull, deposit minimum or interest charges. The limitation: you must open a Chime Checking Account to apply, the money you move to the card is your spending limit, so it does not add buying power, and the best rewards require large monthly direct deposits.

See our step-by-step guide to activating a Chime debit card — online, in the app or by phone.
Is Chime a bank?
No. Chime is a financial technology company. Its banking services and the Chime Card are provided by The Bancorp Bank, N.A. or Stride Bank, N.A., both FDIC members. That is why a bank name appears in Chime's disclosures and card terms, while you manage everything in the Chime app.
Does the Chime Card build credit if it uses my own money?
Yes, that is its purpose. Chime Card is a secured credit card, so the money you move to it sets your spending limit, but your activity is reported to the credit bureaus like a credit card account. Paying on time helps you build a payment history, and there is no interest, annual fee or minimum deposit.
