About Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo is a national bank best known in cards for the flat 2% cash rewards Wells Fargo Active Cash Card and its Autograph points family, including the Wells Fargo Autograph Card and Wells Fargo Autograph Journey Card. It also offers the Wells Fargo Reflect Card for a long intro APR period and the Wells Fargo Premier Autograph Visa Infinite for Premier clients.

Wells Fargo suits you if you want a simple no-annual-fee cash-back card, points that can move to airline and hotel partners, or time to pay down a balance. You can check for prequalified offers with no impact to your credit score. The limitation: Wells Fargo is widely reported to approve about one new card every six months and to limit welcome bonuses to one every 48 months. How do I activate a new Wells Fargo card?

See our step-by-step guide to activating a Wells Fargo credit card — online, in the app or by phone.

Do Wells Fargo cards charge foreign transaction fees?

It depends on the card. The Autograph and Autograph Journey cards have no foreign transaction fee, while Active Cash and Reflect charge 3% on purchases made outside the U.S. If you travel often, pairing Active Cash for everyday spending with an Autograph card for spending abroad avoids the fee.

Can Wells Fargo points be transferred to airlines?

Yes, from eligible cards. Wells Fargo's rewards terms say points transfer at a 1:1 ratio, in 1-point increments, to participating airline and hotel loyalty programs when you hold an eligible card such as the Autograph Journey. Points can also be redeemed for cash back, travel and gift cards through Wells Fargo Rewards.

Is the Bilt card still issued by Wells Fargo?

No. The Bilt card moved away from Wells Fargo in early 2026. New Bilt cards are issued by Column N.A. and serviced by Cardless. If you held the older Wells Fargo version, check the notices from Bilt and Wells Fargo about how your account was converted or closed.
