The Business Platinum Card from American Express

★★★★★4.5 · 0 reviews

Best for: Frequent-flying business owners who'll use the lounges and credits

$695 USD

👍 Pros

  • Wide-ranging lounge access
  • Numerous statement credits aimed at businesses
  • Membership Rewards that can be transferred to partners

👎 Cons

  • The annual fee is very steep
  • Putting the credits to use takes some effort
  • You need a business to qualify

A $695-a-year business card (as of 2026) that only makes sense if you'll actually use the lounge access and the stack of business statement credits, otherwise the fee buries you. Earning is lopsided: 5x on flights and prepaid hotels through Amex Travel, but just 1x on most ordinary business spend, so a flat-2x business card out-earns it on everyday purchases. The math works when credits plus lounge value clear the fee, roughly $3,000 in airfare a year already returns 15,000 points, but a business that mostly buys software and supplies should skip it. Confirm the current credit lineup and welcome offer on Amex's site, since they change yearly.
